Nothing compares to a midwestern sky.

Bright blue, in a myriad of gradients. Filled with fluffy white, flat-bottomed clouds. Undulating fields, some striped, some not. Treetops tickling the underbelly of the firmament. Smudges of red, of white, of blue. Miles. Miles and miles of sky.

We took a drive today just to spend a few hours staring at the midwestern sky.

"Similarly, we have a lot of empty spaces in our lives. I call them interstices. Say you are coming over to my place. You are in an elevator and while you are coming up, I am waiting for you. This is an interstice, an empty space.

I work in empty spaces..." - Umberto Eco
